Following the synod assembly May 16, Lutherans from all around the Northwestern Ohio Synod will gather at the Bowen-Thompson Ballroom at Bowling Green State University, for a truly life changing event. But with anything new, there are questions, and we hope to provide the answers below.
What is it?
CrossTraining is a special weekend celebrating our life together as the church in our congregations, in the synod and in the world. It will follow the Northwestern Ohio Synod Assembly that will be held on Friday, May 16 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Following the assembly, CrossTraining will begin at 4:30 p.m. with an opening worship celebration with Assistant to the Bishop in the SE Michigan Synod and The Lutheran commentator, the Rev. Steve Marsh preaching. Music throughout the event will be offered by Ken Medema with keynotes by Tony Campolo.
The event will end with a concert by Lost and Found from 9:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
Where will it be held?
The assembly and the CrossTraining event will be held at the Bowen- Thompson Ballroom of Bowling Green State University.
Who should attend?
The members of your congregation will elect those representatives who will attend the assembly; they will end their responsibility when the assembly is over. They are certainly invited to stay and attend. We are hoping that congregations will send 5 percent of their worshipping members to the CrossTraining event. You do not have to be an elected representative to the assembly to attend CrossTraining. We welcome and encourage everyone!
How to register?
Registration for this event will be sent to congregations with the synod assembly materials. There will be separate registrations for both the assembly and the events with CrossTraining.
